Over 80 women from a dynamic mix of businesses including private industry, the arts and craft and health sectors, new start - ups and the voluntary/third  sector within Torfaen and the surrounding  area  gathered on Thursday 28 th November 2013 at the BEST WESTERN PLUS Parkway Hotel & Spa, Cwmbran,  for an evening that featured business networking and opportunities to showcase their enterprises and organisations. Attendees also enjoyed a unique and  inspiring  fashion show.

Attendees also had the opportunity to visit a variety  trade stands. Fees of £141.00  for  these stands have been donated to local St Anne’s & David’s Hospice Care.

Tania Ansell, Fundraiser for St Anne’s & St David’s Hospice says “We are extremely grateful for the support from the Economy & Enterprise team at Torfaen County Borough Council. This  kind donation ensures we can continue to provide this service free of charge to those who need us.  St Anne’s and St David’s Hospices are very close to the hearts of many who attended the event and they understand the importance of hospice care and the relief it brings to many families to know it is available to them should they need it.”

Catherine Thomas, Head of Economy, Enterprise and the Environment at Torfaen council added “We’re delighted to have helped St Anne’s and St David’s  Hospice Care.  We are dedicated to supporting our local business community through events like these and if we can also support worthy causes at the same time, that’s fantastic.”

St Anne’s & St David's Hospice Care provides free community-based hospice care to people with cancer or any other life threatening illness living within Caerphilly, Newport, Monmouthshire, Torfaen and in South and Mid Powys.  Last year they cared for over 3,200 patients and their families, with over 60 patients in South and Mid Powys alone.

In addition to the four teams of Clinical Nurse Specialists, St Anne’s & St David’s Hospice Care has a 'Hospice at Home' team of nurses and healthcare assistants who provide hands-on care and support.
