Retail enterprises open in Pontypool Indoor Market

There’s no shortage of enterprising individuals looking to offer a new, eclectic range of products and services at Pontypool Indoor Market. The market is coming to the end of a large refurbishment project with the Main Market Hall now open for business. The whole of the market will be reopened later this year with a high-profile launch event. The news has created a stir and a flurry of businesses eager to take advantage of the local opportunity have been making enquiries.

From bows and tutus, real dairy ice cream and field sport accessories to bespoke and vintage clothing it’s likely that any shopper will be delighted with their visit to this unique building situated in the centre of the town.

The  first new businesses will be followed shortly by a number of additional stalls, ensuring the market is somewhere that customers will want to return to again and again. That’s great news for any business!

Councillor Lewis Jones, deputy leader of Torfaen council, said:

“I have no doubt the public will enjoy these new additions, and that all of our traders, both new and established, would welcome the support from people choosing to shop locally.”

Adrian Snelgrove of ‘Hooks and Lines’ based in the market said ‘’it’s great to be able to offer our community a service that’s been needed for so long,’’ whilst Dave Norman, 59, of Dave’s Ices said  “Now the Market Hall has been refurbished it is a lovely environment to trade in.”

The market has undergone a period of extensive refurbishment and the final construction work is expected to be completed late summer 2014. The opening event later this year will provide a great opportunity  to celebrate the full potential of this building.

The refurbishment of the market has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the Heads of the Valleys Programme through the Welsh Government, Pontypool Regeneration Partnership, Heritage Lottery Fund and Torfaen County Borough Council.
