South East Wales eyes business tourism market

Local authorities and partner venues have joined forces to generate additional business tourism in the region.

Meet South East Wales is showcasing the area as an up and coming destination for business tourism.

Three local authorities and partner venues have joined forces to generate additional business tourism spend with the region, which encompasses Newport, Monmouthshire and Torfaen.

The move comes after the area received a grant from the regional tourism partnership Capital Region Tourism. The joint  initiative is encouraging industry professionals to find out more about what South East Wales has to offer the events industry.

Lynne Richards, tourism officer at Newport City Council said “South East Wales offers the perfect blend of modern architecture with history; cutting edge city venues and breath taking scenery that will enhance the success of any event. Once the industry discovers what we have to offer, we’re hoping it will drive more business to the region and increase the economic impact that we have.”
