University of South Wales: Supporting Entrepreneurship
In order to support students and graduates who have entrepreneurial ambitions at the University of South Wales, the Careers Service offers specialist support through the Student Enterprise Team. Whether looking to explore freelancing or the development of an innovative new product or service students are able to access one-to-one mentoring, interactive workshops, networking, competitions and funding opportunities.
Big Ideas Wales, which offers support for the under 25’s and business incubators such as Welsh Ice and Entrepreneurial spark.
BID (Bright Ideas Den), which takes place quarterly and over the past eight years has allowed hundreds of students to pitch their ideas, gain valuable feedback and benefits from £40,000 start-up funding
At the end of each academic year the USW Freelancers Academy takes place, a week long boot camp designed to help students transform their ideas into their own businesses.
To celebrate graduates who have started up and run successful businesses, the recent USW Alumni Awards now have categories recognising and profiling the variety of successful Start-ups and Accomplished Entrepreneurs across the globe.
The Exchange is a one-stop-shop for businesses wanting to tap into the talent at the University, providing business support advice and the opportunity to be part of a wider support network. It also enables students to gain valuable real-life experience of working on live industry projects.
