Big Pit is a real coal mine and one of Britain's leading mining museums.

This award winning national museum stands high on the heather clad moors of Blaenavon, designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO as an exceptionally well preserved example of an early industrial landscape.

This living reminder of the coal industry in Wales offers several totally unique venues available for daytime hire.

As part of your day, your guests can also enjoy our Mining Galleries and historic colliery buildings, exhibitions in the Pithead Baths as well as book a place on our world famous underground tour.
