Enex TestLab opens base in Wales to target UK & European markets
An internationally renowned independent commercial IT testing laboratory which is headquartered in Australia is opening a new facility in Wales to spearhead its expansion into the UK and European markets.
Enex TestLab will initially operate from the Springboard Business Innovation Centre ~ Wales where it will create twenty six highly skilled jobs over the next three years.
Enex has operations in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Shanghai and their planned expansion into Europe will be managed entirely from their Wales base.
Enex independently test, review and evaluate virtually any IT product or service that uses a silicon chip to enable it to work.
Their ICT hardware, software and systems testing services include product testing, product comparison, evaluation and benchmarking, technology development advice and assistance.
It is used by companies developing new products as well as potential buyers of those products seeking assurance that the product or service does what it claims to.
Their services can range from benchmarking the speeds that processors operate at, to testing software for a new computer game for the consumer market.
International Business Wales worked closely with Enex in Australia to help facilitate their expansion plans which were supported by the Welsh Assembly Government through the Single Investment Fund.
The investment has been welcomed by Ieuan Wyn Jones, Minister for the Economy and Transport.
He said “Enex is the leading company in its sector in Australia and has gained an international reputation for its expertise, working with national governments and global brand leaders in the private sector”.
“The company’s decision to locate its only European facility in Cwmbran is excellent news that will help reinforce Wales’ position as an important centre for this sector. Their investment will create a number of highly skilled knowledge based jobs with the very real potential for further expansion”.
Enex has undertaken testing for some of the world’s leading IT companies during the development stage of new products and services, saving them millions of dollars in the process. Leading global IT brands also regularly commission Enex to carry out product comparisons for them.
Enex, which will be developing a range of innovative new testing products in Wales, joins a very small number of laboratories in the UK capable of carrying out such a comprehensive range of testing.
Malcolm Higgins, manager for the UK and Europe business, said Enex TestLab, which was founded in 1989 as a spin out from RMIT University, Melbourne, had grown into a commercial testing facility unparalleled anywhere in the world. He said “We provide an invaluable service to industry and have a truly global client base. The scientific and independent testing and reporting services we provide significantly lower our clients’ risk and maximise return on investment when researching, developing, marketing, or introducing technology products”.
“The UK and Europe offer us significant new business opportunities and our move to Wales ties in with our strategy to expand our sales offices and labs, in strategic global locations”.
The support of the Assembly Government has been extremely helpful and we look forward to growing our business here.
The area has a good cluster of technology related organisations including Cardiff University, the University of Glamorgan’s IT campus and Newport University which is excellent for recruiting purposes and offers potential for carrying out collaborative research in the future.
