Proxima: New Service Hub in Wales
Procurement firm Proxima announced plans to establish a European support service hub in Wales creating more than 50 jobs.
The company, which manages over £2bn worth of procurment activity for clients across Europe, has offices in London and Brussels. The European hub in Wales was intially located at Springboard Business Innovation Centre ~ Wales, Cwmbran, to expand its offer and attract and service international clients.
Ian Thompson, Managing Director said “Our decision to locate our European support service in Wales was made easier by the help and support of the Torfaen Economy & Enterprise Team and the Welsh Government. In addition, the ability to secure high-grade candidates with the right skills and experience needed to operate the European support services hub from Wales was key”.
Ieuan Wyn Jones, Minister for the Economy and Transport said “this investment by a high growth business, operating in a competitive market, is a high value project for Wales and will be employing people with language skills as well as specialist procurement expertise”.
In early 2012 Proxima graduated from the Springboard Business Innovation Centre ~ Wales facility into larger premises within Torfaen. The company now employs over 75 staff with plans to increase this to 200 within the next few years.
Proxima’s clients include British Airways, Man Group, Universal Music and the British Council. The company provides services for clients with indirect purchasing, in categories including IT and telecoms, marketing, facilities management, temporary labour, professional services and travel.
