Located on Broad Street in the Heritage Town of Blaenavon, The Lion Hotel has recently been awarded a Rosette by the AA for culinary excellence and a prestigious Silver Star Award for outstanding hospitality.
The establishment is now the second restaurant in Torfaen to hold a Rosette and one of only 16 in the whole of Wales.
Speaking recently Marc Harris, Managing Director of The Lion Hotel said “I can't thank Head Chef, Jon Wellington, enough for pushing us to this level of achievement. Jon and his very talented team have done an absolutely fantastic job.”
The Silver Star award goes to highly recommended hotels offering a superior level of quality within their star rating, high standards of housekeeping in particular hospitality, service and cleanliness and hold an AA Rosette award for the quality of their food. The Lion Hotel is now just one of 4 in Wales to hold this award.
Marc continued “The team who work alongside me here have been amazing. It just goes to show that even though we are a small business, nestled in the middle of beautiful Blaenavon, we can still compete with the giants in the industry. All it takes is passion, love, dedication and a lot of hard work from everybody involved.”
Councillor Alan Jones, Executive Member for Business, Culture, Leisure and Tourism at Torfaen County Borough Council said “These AA awards are well deserved for this established and popular hotel which is going from strength to strength here in the heart of the Blaenavon World Heritage Site. I wish Marc and his team all the very best for the future.”
