Businesses and schools from across Torfaen are working together as part of the borough’s second primary schools Enterprise Week which takes place between Monday 16th and Friday 20th July 2018 in Pontypool Indoor Market. Participating schools will each be given a slot to sell their products to the public.
Pontypool Tesco have teamed up with Penygarn Community Primary School, Pontypool to work together. Pupils from Year 5 at the school will be creating, marketing and selling a product that they are currently in the process of developing. Jonathan Webb, a teacher at the school said this product will be a “must have’ for every shopper in the town.”
In addition to a £50 donation to the school for the project, Tesco Pontypool have already welcomed pupils from the school for the launch of the partnership and a tour of the store.
Gaynor Phillips of Tesco Pontypool said “As a leading supermarket chain and a business that is committed to supporting local communities, we’re delighted to be supporting the Torfaen Enterprise Week initiative again this year and to help young people in understanding what skills are involved with running a business.
More visits are planned to the store in the coming weeks for the pupils . At their next visit they will discover how we make and sell bakery products. I am also looking forward to providing ongoing support and help for the children as they prepare for Enterprise Week in July. It’s a very exciting time.”
