Senior manager, managing in business for over 25 years and now business coach Matt Preece of South East Wales ‘Business Doctors’, the UK’s fastest growing support service for small and medium-sized businesses, has been supporting three groups of young people at West Mon Secondary School, Torfaen, who are preparing for their enterprise qualification as part of the Inspire2Achieve programme.
In addition to sponsoring the three groups, Matt has made a number of visits over recent weeks, enabled the groups to consider several ideas for their business products, donated materials and has been keen to impart his knowledge and expertees
Matt said “I am very happy to be supporting the three groups. At the visits I have covered an array of topics, including the basics of running a business, setting goals and objectives, how to make a profit, overcoming barriers and blockages and how to maximise the opportunities for making sales through different channels. The pupils have already done extraordinarily well with their promotion for direct orders and their strategy of selling to family and friends.”
Claire Kennedy and Deborah Parry, youth workers at Torfaen Youth Service said “The pupils have really benefited from Matt’s input, enthusiasm and positive approach to their work. The groups have decided to make candles, ‘jars of happiness’ and books. We are very proud of all the young people’s work. Their creativity has really shone through along with their commitment to the project and we’d like to thank Matt for all his support and contributions.”
The three groups will be selling their products at Pontypool Indoor Market as part of 2019 Torfaen Enterprise Week taking place between 8th – 11th July.
They will be at the Market between 10am – 2pm on the following days.
