Rural Innovation Scheme

Are you a business, community group, social enterprise or similar? Do you have an innovative idea for a project that can help create social and economic benefits to Torfaen’s Rural Wards?

We are particularly interested in projects that are based around the environment, sustainability, farming, local produce and food tourism.

The innovation scheme can offer support, advice and training to develop, pilot and trail innovative ideas that can improve and regenerate rural Torfaen. It is not a traditional grant scheme as we are unable to fund capital costs. We can however fund the following eligible activities up to the value of £10,000.

Eligible Activities

We can support a range of projects including:

  • Research
  • Feasibility Studies
  • Pilot Studies and test trading
  • Business advice
  • Networking
  • Training

Who can apply?

  • Community action groups
  • Social enterprises
  • Small businesses
  • Rural networks
  • Business networks
  • Third and public sector

Those applying to be a part of this scheme will need to bring an idea, plenty of support from the wider community or a small team of volunteers to manage the project in partnership with the team. We will work with you to commission the project and deal with the contractor arrangements while you steer the project and provide direction based on what you know is needed in your area.
