The new Job Support Scheme is to be introduced from 1 November 2020 to protect jobs where businesses are facing lower demand over the winter months due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Under the scheme, which will run for six months, the UK Government will contribute towards the wages of employees who are working fewer than normal hours due to decreased demand.
In addition, the UK Chancellor announced (9 October) further details on how the Job Support Scheme will be expanded to protect jobs and support businesses required to close due to COVID restrictions.
